Four Square – A Fun Sun Safety Game Most Kids Enjoy

Four square is among the most popular games kids from most age groups enjoy. All you need to play four square is a ball that bounces well and is easy to catch, some sidewalk chalk, and a hard surface for you to draw lines and bounce the ball.

The concept and rules are pretty basic. You need to draw a large square and then divide it into four equisized quadrants and label each from 1 to 4 in clockwise order. The squares are identified as ‘king’, ‘queen’, ‘jack’, and ‘ace’ respectively.

How to play Four Square:

  • 1child stands in each square.
  • The child in square one acts as a server and passes the ball to any of the other squares. The child in that particular square is the required to direct that ball to another square without letting it bounce in his own square more than once.
  • If the ball happens to bounce in the square more than once, the child will have to step out and will be replaced with another child.
  • If there are only four players, the child will have to move to the fourth square, which is the ‘ace’.
  • In the end, the child who has stayed at the ‘king’ spot for the longest becomes the winner.

The experts suggest kids aged 2 to 4 should spend at least 3 hours doing some physical activity and indulging in such games is a great way to do so. If you are looking forward to exploring some more active games for kids, KidAdvisor can be of great help.
